Can
you believe it is summer?
I am so pleased that we have so many
educational and networking opportunities for HR
Professionals over the summer, HR101 being held
this week, The new brown bag meetings that will be
held at a date to be named later in July and
August, and the SHRM Illinois HR Conference
in July. Please consider taking advantage of
these opprotunites. In addition, you will
see in this newsletter we have a jammed packed
fall schedule for you! Also, this is a
great time to volunteer with the CiHRG group,
there is no better way to get to know other HR
professionals. The CiHRG board is looking
for two committee chair positions the Public
Relations and Workforce Readiness committees are
in need of a chair. If you are interested in
serving CiHRG in this way, please contact me by email or call

We
did it! Our goal for 2009
is to increase new membership by 23% (27 new
members). With a lot of hard work and support from
current members, we have 31 new members so far
this year. However, we are not
stopping there! We currently have 144
members and would like to reach between 173 and
200 by December 31st! Just 29 to
go!!!!
Keep bringing guests and
getting out into the community and recruiting
potential new members to join the excellent
training and networking opportunities offered by
CiHRG!

Certification News

Congratulations
to Karey Handley for successfully passing her SPHR
certification. Way to go
Karey!!!
For
those of you who would like to accomplish what
Karey did, a certification study group will be
forming in late August or early
September. Group study sessions
are a great way to keep you on track for preparing
for the certification exam.
These study groups are held weekly and lead
by resident experts (CiHRG members).
So, you get insights from other
SPHR's/PHR's who have already completed the
certification. And, you get to
ask these experts content questions.
The
second testing period for 2009 is December 1, 2009
through January 31, 2010. To avoid a
penalty, the application must be received by
October 9.
Fees
depend on three things:

Are you a SHRM member?
· Are you taking the PHR
or SPHR exam
· Did you register by the
deadline?
PHR
examination fees run from $175 to $350; SPHR
examination fees run from $300 to $475.

| Earn CEU's for Free

HRCI
Pre-Approved Archived
Webinars
Manpower learned that HRCI relaxed the ruling
on earning CEUs for archived webinars. In
the past, in order to earn CEUs for non-SHRM
sponsored webinars, you had to attend it live.
That is no longer the case, all archived
Manpower webinars can be used to earn CEUs towards
recertification with HRCI.
For a list of archived Manpower webinars you
can visit http://www.us.manpower.com/employers/webinar_series.jsp
Eric Ferguson reported that he recently
recertified, and found these webinars highly
useful.
Remember that as a SHRM-member benefit, there
is an extensive archive of SHRM webcasts at www.shrm.org
Another good reason to belong to SHRM as well
as CiHRG.
