Stimulus
Funds Benefit Local Employers
The Champaign Consortium will get nearly
$1.2 million in stimulus funding to create between
500 and 600 summer jobs for disadvantaged
Champaign, Illinois youths. In addition, the group
will receive $1 million in federal stimulus money
to assist dislocated workers and jobless adults
with training and other job-related
assistance. The Champaign Consortium is a
not-for-profit agency, established in 1974, that
provides employment and job-training assistance in
four counties. The program will offer both
summer jobs and job training, with youths earning
the minimum wage of $7.75 an hour, rising to $8 an
hour July 1st. Youths ages 14 to 24 will be
able to start work May 1 and continue through
September, working up to 35 hours per week.

| Smoking
Cessation Follow-up from March Meeting
|
|
You
know why you should have a smoking cessation
program. So how do you get one started at your
company?
At the
March CiHRG meeting, you heard about the benefits
to your company and your employees, but you
probably left wondering how you could implement a
smoking cessation program at your
facility. Parkland College has a
program that can help. For more information
Phone: 217-353-2103 or E-mail: Joe Streit
