Affiliation
The Central Illinois Human
Resources Group (CiHRG) is a local chapter (#246) of the Society for
Human Resource Management (SHRM). Since 1948, this Society has
developed and provided programs and services to improve the
professional knowledge of human resource professionals. At the same
time, SHRM has worked to create a broader understanding of the
importance of human resource management and has served as the source
for information about developments in the field.
Purpose
- To
provide opportunities for professional support and networking,
up-to-date human resource information and cooperative research,
and
- To
raise the standards, visibility, and recognition of the human
resource profession.
Chartered in August 1976 and formerly known as the
Champaign-Urbana Personnel Association (CUPA), our group continues
to grow to meet the needs of our members.
Peer
Exchange
An important benefit of CiHRG
membership is the opportunity to meet your peers to exchange ideas
and discuss problems. No matter if you’re a rookie or a seasoned
veteran, frequent peer contacts are invaluable in continuing your
professional education.
Networking
As a CiHRG member, you have access
to a community network of resources and individual expertise.
Whether you require information or answers, your needs will be met
through the CiHRG organization.
Communication
CiHRG publishes a monthly
newsletter to keep its members informed of Chapter activities. News
items include membership information, monthly meeting details, job
opportunities and future programming. Members are encouraged to
submit human resources related items for inclusion.
Problem-Solving
At both the local and national
levels, membership offers you a range of professional development
opportunities. First, CiHRG sponsors a study group, which helps to
prepare participants for national certification. In addition,
speakers are engaged to present programs at the monthly Chapter
meetings on current human resources topics. Through national SHRM
membership, you have access to numerous publications and resources
in the human resource or general management field, often at discount
prices. Further educational opportunities are available through
SHRM’s state/regional conferences, the annual national conference
and seminars. SHRM’s web site address is
www.shrm.org.
Check it out! Valuable, up-to-date information is always available.
